Programs and Services at PIW

Our focus is not on problems, it’s on people.

Entering the hospital is a big step but an important step towards healing. PIW provides inpatient hospitalization for detoxification from alcohol and other drugs, acute care for mental health crises, and treatment for post-traumatic stress disorders, including sexual trauma. We also offer some services on an outpatient basis. We treat children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

Here is a description of our programs:

Children’s Services

PIW’s Children’s Program specializes in the evaluation and intensive treatment of children ages 10 through 12 who suffer from developmental and/or psychiatric illnesses. Each child has an individualized treatment plan designed for him or her which includes medical, psychological developmental, educational, social and family assessments. Psychotherapy, education sessions and support groups involve parents and other family members in the therapeutic process.

Adolescent Treatment Services

At PIW, the critical and confusing years of adolescence receive comprehensive attention. Youths between the ages of 13 and 17 receive individual, group and family therapy to address issues such as drug and alcohol abuse, self-destructive, defiant or anti-social behavior and mental health crises such as anxiety, depression or suicide. Treatment may include crisis stabilization, behavioral modification and psycho-pharmacology. Schooling is provided to supply youth with remedial, grade-level or advanced curricula, as needed. Doctors, therapists, school personnel, probation officers and court officials may arrange for a professional consultation for any teen whose pattern of behavior is of concern.

Adult Psychiatric Services

Our adult program provides short-term inpatient care. Individuals coping with anxiety, mood disorders, chemical dependency, depression, schizophrenia, bi-polar and serious personality disorders can receive stabilization and treatment. We are able to accommodate both voluntary and involuntary admissions.

Chemical Dependency Services

PIW provides an inpatient detoxification program to help restore people from drug and alcohol addiction. Our detox program is medically supervised and addresses a patient’s medical and psychiatric condition.

The Center for Post-Traumatic and Dissociative Disorders Program

The Center offers short-term directed treatment for adults who exhibit acute symptoms associated with post-traumatic and dissociative disorders and other trauma-based conditions. The Center uses a nationally respected model for the treatment of adults with post-traumatic syndromes and provides rapid stabilization and essential training in self management skills.
